JUST ANNOUNCED: Speaker Pelosi to headline Families USA’s Health Action Conference on Friday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Families USA announced today that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will receive a lifetime achievement award on Friday from the organization during its 28th annual Health Action Conference. This year’s conference, organized around the theme of The Power of Community, is being held as a hybrid event for the first time on Thursday and Friday.
Families USA is recognizing Pelosi for her unwavering track record championing more affordable and accessible health and health care for families in California and nationwide. Her career health care highlights include fighting for increased HIV/AIDS research, the historic Affordable Care Act, enabling Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices and advocating for reproductive rights.
The conference will help participants from across the country – largely advocates from the national, state and local levels – mobilize around shared efforts to make sure everyone can get better health care and live healthier lives regardless of the color of their skin, what language they speak or how much money they make. Attendees will participate in various sessions and workshops to help them work towards profound policy changes in 2023 and beyond.
