Position Overview
Are you passionate about shaping Medicaid policy and advocacy initiatives and thrive in strategic leadership roles? We’re seeking a Senior Advisor on Medicaid Policy to collaborate with senior leadership on expert policy analysis and strategy. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to implement strategies, manage grants, and serve as a spokesperson for the organization on Medicaid issues, ensuring cohesive and impactful advocacy. Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that all departments are fully aware of current and emerging opportunities afforded by Medicaid to drive coverage, access, and care, improving the health of low- and modest-income families, while leveraging Medicaid’s position as a significant payor to drive payment reform.
In this pivotal role, you’ll provide strategic leadership and support for Families USA’s Medicaid policy and advocacy projects, spearheading efforts at both the federal and state levels. You’ll stay informed on Medicaid-related news reports, scholarly studies, articles, and state and federal program changes, legislation, bills, and regulations. Additionally, you’ll prepare high-quality memoranda, regulatory comments, issue briefs, reports, white papers, legislation, grant proposals, and other materials to inform and support our policy positions and advocacy efforts. Represent the organization with integrity at various meetings and give presentations to advance our advocacy efforts and mission.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree in public health, public policy, or related field, along with a minimum of 10 years’ experience demonstrating high-level content knowledge and expertise in federal and/or state-level policy-making processes. They should have a successful track record of representing organizations with media, regulators, partners, and funders, showcasing strong public speaking abilities. Significant experience in health policy, particularly with a focus on Medicaid, is essential, along with demonstrated collaboration, project planning, and leadership within a non-profit environment. Exceptional oral, writing, presentation, project management and organizational skills, coupled with sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, are crucial. The candidate should excel in establishing effective working relationships, handling multiple priorities under pressure, and communicating complex policy ideas clearly to diverse audiences. Creativity, initiative, and discretion are key attributes for success in this role.
Benefits and Perks
Our salary range for this role is $145K – $160K and will be commensurate with experience. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a hybrid work schedule, comprehensive health and retirement benefits, generous vacation time, and much more.
